POWER KIDS

Why definitions Developed Power Kids

The state of physical fitness and health in today's youth is downright frightening. 50% of Canadian children are overweight, and 15% are classified as obese. Even more frightening is the fact that a province wide study reported that by the time children reach grade 7, 37% of girls and 40% of boys are obese! As a result, preventable health related illnesses such as heart disease, hypertension, and type-2 diabetes are at an all-time high. Even increases in mood disorders such as ADD, AD/HD, and depression are linked to childhood obesity.

The three main factors leading to such problems are:

  • Factor #1: Lack of play, general fitness, and recreation in today's youth.

  • Factor #2: Poor nutritional habits / knowledge.

  • Factor #3: Lack of parental education leadership and in lifestyle coaching and wellness.
